Reading these buyers guides is a good place to start for earlier Mk1 Mini's 2001-2007 :)

Hi, my advice is too avoid the BMW approved used Mini's..they are way too dear.
Be patient and find one from a reputable dealer offering a worthwhile warranty.
The steering assembly is prone to leaks and will fail an MOT with a very slight weep. £400 to repair.
I would definitely get a full MOT.
Try these people for a good deal. Used / Second Hand Cars, Car Dealer, Summercourt, Newquay : Mark Kessell Cars (http://www.markkessellcars.co.uk/used-second-hand-cars-cornwall/index.asp)

I brought my S from Mark Kessell and would thoroughly recommend them.

I would give the car a good once over check for leaks especially from the engine mount (about £70 part) and check if there is any oil around the sump area(£25 part however alot of hours labour)
