Hi all was thinking today how i want my mini 230bhp and am in proccess of ordering the intercooler and pulley kit and remap but was wondering how easy it would be to get that extra 20bhp and get it to 250bhp as would really like it rounded off at 250bhp if not too much trouble

Thanks. Damian.

Ring Thomas or Paul at 1320 Mini - Mini Parts - Mini Performance Parts (http://www.1320mini.co.uk) & ask about 550 injectors/Catcam/tune

Not too much trouble except for the cost :p

Hi

What spec and mods do you have fitted at the moment.
It's quite a lot of work and money to get 250bhp from a gen 1 and for it to be reliable.
Let us know we can guide you in the right direction.

Good man, wish I was in your position

Have a browse on the 'project cars' thread on MiniTorque.com - Welcome (http://www.minitorque.com), plenty of cars tuned to 250bhp & above on there, loads of tuning/suspension/braking/styling info.

Where are you based?

Hi ok

To be honest and no disrespect but if you only have an induction kit and decat and cat back, I would be very surprised if you put it on the dyno now if it was over 185 to 190 bhp.
Most r53 MCS with a 15% pulley, decat, cat back, 380cc/440cc injectors, big intercooler, induction kit and remap push anywhere between 200 to 230 ish bhp.

To get to 250 bhp you need the following to start with if you have a strong engine to start with.

Induction kit
Big valve and flowed cylinder head CNC.co.uk or a big valve thumper
Camshaft
Bigger injectors
Adjustable fuel pressure regulator
Decat and cat back
Smaller SC pulley may be 17% Plus belt But I would poss go 15% let you rev it more.
Lighter crank pulley
Gen 5 super charger
MSD coil and leads and good set of spark plugs
Bigger top mounted intercooler GRS motor sport version or even front mounted GRS intercooler
Bigger/ reworked throtal body
Wide band O2 sensor
Reworked bypass valve plus VGS mod
Limited slip diff
Better clutch and fly wheel
Oil cooler
May be a better radiator
remap

We are talking lots of dosh anyway that will give you a good start just remember one bit always effects the other.
Good luck it seems like you got the bug like the rest of use :-) keep us up today and lots of pictures :-) good luck

You're not that far from 1320, very reasonable prices, they'll tailor a tuning package to your budget & won't force you into buying mods you don't/won't need:wink:.

They've had customers come from as far afield as Belgium/Slovenia/Holland & Northern Ireland, a very well respected tuning company within the MINI world, & a forum sponsor on here too:).

As far as I know only a couple of people run it in the UK, you can still make big power without it

Don't forget your brakes too, the more power you have you'll probably have to start thinking of a brake upgrade.

This modding lark can work out expensive

Jan 11th, 2012, 12:34 PM
The JCW brakes are ok, with a good set of pads even better .

I got a very good deal () on a brand new Brembo BBK full set (front & rear) from an R56 JCW, it would have been rude not to get them :p. Great set of stoppers, worked brilliant on track & superb on the road too, + they look good :p

Wheels are 17"

From my very bad memory I think it was £550 for the brakes, I didn't ask where they came from:wink:
