Have a mini cooper s 2007 with boost single CD player. Its okay but I am looking for some more bass, power, anything! I dont want to fit an after market stereo as I want to keep the car original but wondered if I could upgrade the current system or if I could fit an amp under the front seat?

Is there a 6 CD stereo?

I agree, the stereo for the new MINI is crap! My old R50, I ripped the stereo out and put a bluetooth Sony one in and the sound was awesome, so I am under the impression it's not the speakers it is the unit not giving out enough power.

If anyone has any ideas how to improve sound please let us know!

You are correct in saying the stock head unit is the culprit! It's source is dirty and in my quest for better sound, I had originally hooked up a full new stereo system to the factory head unit! The result was not good at all. So on the R56, I installed a kenwood in the din sized pocket right above the glove box. Thus, completely bypassing the original system. Unfortunately, If you want sound quality, its the only thing that can be done.

Looks like a neat idea Flu, unfortunately I don;t have the storage pack so the glove box thing above it doesn't have the hinges, is it possible to have that done?

So witht hat stereo there, you have to control everything by opening that up all the time, isn't that a pain?

My arm can reach the main knob without any issues. Plus, I do have a wireless remote that came with the head unit. The only problem I'm encountering is when the sun is coming in the window from the passenger side and there is glare on the screen of the head unit in that location! But, I feel some sacrifices had to be made and I am willing to live with that.

I thought my radio was the two cylindrical chrome tipped pipes hanging down from my back bumper... is that not it? :D
