Hi, just collected my 2003 MCS JCW and it has a original mini disc player fitted. :( Can anyone recommend a decent head unit for around £100 that plays CDs & mp3 CDs preferably with Bluetooth connectivity for my iPhone?

I'm kind of an Alpine fan and am thinking about getting the Alpine CDE-133BT for my MCS. It looks like a nice radio and it has both bluetooth calling and also A2DP to stream your music from your iPhone directly to the radio without cables  It may be a little more than what you want to spend but I think it is definitely one to look at.

I have just put a JVC KD-R821BT in our 2003 Cooper S.

It has bluetooth for audio streaming and phone calls.

It also has 30,000 colours for the backlight so you can get a nice orange hue to match your dials!

You need the mini fitting kit - surround bit + cables. £5 from Amazon.

Works great with iPhone 4.

Thanks for that, was there much of a difference in the quality of sound from the OEM unit?

From my purely subjective non-technical analysis, I thought it sounded quite a lot better than the factory 'BOOST' stereo.

One other thing I liked is that it comes with a separate microphone for handsfree calling which I have mounted at the top of the A pillar.

Took less than half an hour to fit too. I used a guide from fitaudio.com - sorry can't post URL as too new on here!

Thanks for advice, i've had a look at unit and looks pretty good value so i've purchased it along with the facia and fitting kit. Thanks for the recommendation.

When I had my R50 I have the 2011 Sony Bluetooth model (I beleive they have already updated it!) Couldn't fault it - it delivered crist sound even when turned up to volume 40 (which was borderline unbearable...it goes up to 50!).

Bluetooth streams music as well as phone calls, I could remotely control my iPhone with it too for example ''call dad'' so it's completely handsfree...safe and convenient!

Highly recommended 10/10
