i no this had probably been asked alot of times, and i cant seem to find any answers (probably looking in the wrong place).....
i have recently purchased a r56 cooper s 07 plate with just 45,000 on the clock....bogg standard and im looking at tuning it.
i have seen on the evolve site different stages of tuning.
now im wondering due to the high compression in the cooper s compared to the jcw and the slightly weaker gearboxes whats the max bhp and torque ideally i could go.
any help would be very much appreciated:D

I know of a couple of R56 owners that have cars running at 270bhp with almost 300ft lbs torque (tuned by Evolve by the way), so far the gearboxes have been fine, but the clutches appear to be the weak links.
These cars are used pretty well, track days/drag strip but are also daily drivers too.

only problem is, i have heard that the gearboxes and pistons cant take that much and the turbos faul. hear the jcw set up is fine for that power just not the cooper s.
any insight on this???

Haven't heard of the gearboxes or pistons failing tbh, one of the 2 I mentioned now has a hybrid turbo unit due to his old one failing.
Bit of a long read but lots of tuning info, both been to Evolve
TDLC's Midnight Black JCW (http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f272/tdlcs-midnight-black-jcw-8696/)
PD's Transformer (http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f272/pds-transformer-23772/)
Both members on MiniTorque.com - Welcome (http://www.minitorque.com) (so am I), loads of tuning info on there regarding the R56 :)

The (factory) JCW isn't that different to the S, so I doubt that's true.
I think it has new pistons and injectors, but bear in mind the JCW aftermarket LCI kit (2010>) takes the S up to 200bhp. that's only 8 less than the factory JCW, so there cant be much difference...
