Cheapest and easiest option is just a plug-and-play AUX cable.

Costs less than a fiver, and no, it isn't classed as a modification. ;)

It'll plug in under the toggle switches - buy one from your local audio place, or eBay, or Amazon. MINI will also sell you one, but for about 5 times the price of anywhere else. This will allow you to listen to music from your iPhone (or iPod, whatever) through the cars speakers, while controlling playback via the device.

You can get more elegant solutions whereby you can control playback via the stereo or MFSW, but that will obviously set you back more. The neater options require USB, and from your other posts, it doesn't sound like your car has this... that said, AUX is a perfectly fine solution for the most part. :)

I've got a Parrot MKI9200.
I can play my iPhone through it with all of my playlists and album artwork displayed on the dash mounted screen. It's an excellent hands free with voice recognition.

I would highly recommend it.
Not the cheapest option but it is very good.

Oh, I was thinking you had a second gen model. On earlier cars, there's no AUX port by default - you'll have to root around in the back of the radio to add one. There's a nice DIY thread with pictures on here explaining how to do it.

You could get one of those FM transmitters (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ipod+fm+transmitter&tbm=shop), although it'll be obsolete when the switch over to DAB happens.
