it started then shut right down twice this morning and now it just cranks. i have had the main dash cluster out of itfo about 2 kuz it is sent out for repairs but have not had any problems with the operation of the car until this morning

I had something similar with another car I had. Turned out to be the fuel pump was knackered. Try listening for a buzzing noise when you first push the ignition. That should be the fuel pump pressurising the system. Good luck in any case.
