Evening mini owners of the UK!!

I have a dark silver cooper S R53 and have decided to go for a full de-chrome.
Having read the forums I'm going to pastidip all the light and grill surrounds, fuel cap.

I want to do the door handles but am not sure whether to buy cover or plastidip them?

I also want to do the belt line but cannot find anybody who sells these since mini-pirate disappeared?

There are some real experts on here so can somebody point me in the right direction and give any tips before I start the project??

Thanks in advance guys and galls

Mike

As far as i'm aware it's a lengthy job to remove your door handles. I'm sure somebody on here will be able to shed light on it though!

As for the belt line, you can buy kits from Outmotoring (I can't post URL's yet so just google the site!) They are based in the US so postage is initially quoted as being extortionate but if you ask them they can do it for a reasonable price!

Hope this helps :)

Thanks sesqui89 I see what you mean about the shipping!! It's exactly what I need though so will have to email them for a price
I'm amazed that nobody sells this is the UK as other people must have done the same??

Nobody else has replied yet but hoping for some more help from this great community!

No worries! I think MiniPirate used to do the kits also but it appears they've been forced to shut down.

I ordered one of Outmotoring's kits for my R56 on the 10th, they sent via US First Class International Post IIRC and it arrived today so the delivery time doesn't seem to be too bad! :)

As its the weekend and Monday is a holiday over there can I be cheeky and asked how much you paid for shipping??

I initially paid the more expensive charge and was refunded the difference afterwards. I paid £12.30 in total for the product and delivery which equates to $19.47. The product itself was $12.99 so that would make the delivery $6.48...pretty reasonable!

Wow that is a great saving. I will email them today and ask if here is anything they can do to lower the shipping and see what they say!

Let me know how you get I'm with the fitting and I would love to see some pictures when it's complete?

They were very helpful when I got in contact with them so you should be fine...

I won't be fitting mine for a few weeks yet as I don't actually pick the car up until the 9th of March! :( However I can remember from fitting one to my R53 S a while back that it was quite fiddly and you have to apply it quite slowly and smooth it down as you go. You'll need a sharp knife for trimming etc. They do usually supply you with a bit of extra tape in case you go wrong which is useful!

As far as pics go, I don't have any of my old car but if you do a search on here you should be able to find some of other blacked out beltlines...it's a nice mod imo...very subtle yet can make quite a big difference :)

3m 1/2 inch electric tape is the same thing the companies use for the kit and it's only like 3 bucks and your local drug store or grocery store must be 1/2 inch though fits perfectly
