So I have a 61 plate mini one convertible and the mini website and my manual the specs say that it should achieve 37.7urban, 49.6 combined and 61.4 MPG extra urban and im below even the lowest figure. Now I know that these figures are pushed up but I'm getting 36.5 MPG at a push! This seem ridiculous!? I hear some cooper s are getting low 30's. I have done around 5500 miles on the clock from new. Should I go into mini?
Thanks
Alex

36.5 mpg ain't good but it's very hard to tell if it's a problem without knowing two things:

What is your typical driving? If you regularly do short urban/suburban journeys where the car only gets hot halfway to the destination, then 36.5 isn't bad. But if you normally drive 20-mile journeys doing a steady 50mph on A roads, it's awful.

Secondly your driving style affects the consumption a lot too. For example, if you use the brakes a lot then that throws away energy you've just paid to get, so consumption goes way up. You don't need to be a boy racer to get high fuel consumption - you just need to be someone who is always accelerating or braking.

So 36.5 mpg looks like a fairly short bit of string, but how short, no-one can say.
