Guys,

I have a 2004 Mini Cooper S with the built in Sat Nav & Computer thing etc,

The computer shows lots of useful info such as

MPG, Range etc etc.

My question is why for example when I start the engine does the range say 200 miles for argument sake, but a mile down the road is drops by maybe 10 to 12 miles so will then display 188 as the range, i had only been out 5 mins.

I dont floor it as I take it nice and steady round town because I need the car for my job and want the best fuel economy I can get Monday to Friday.

the range is calculated based upon your current average consumption so if this changes so will the range. Makes sense? When you start the average consumption is taken from the last time you drove. Iwill always get worse after you start the car as the engine is cold etc. It will improve over time and so will the mpg again, resulting in better range. Makes sense?
