Hi all!, Hope someone can help me with this!

A while ago a rattling began in the back of my 09 mini FIRST. I removed everything form the boot so its definitly not something there.

Then a few days ago another noise began towards the front of the car on the passenger side. At the front its not a rattling, its like a squeak and, hard to describe but sort of sounds like someone going mmmmm. HA hard to describe. Like the rattling it only occurs going over ramps or rough terrain.

About a month ago I had the rear brake pads changed in a mini dealership.

A friend suggested it may be the ball bearings which might have not been replaced properly or disturbed when they were being changed. However, the dealership I went to is in Northern Ireland and I am based in Dublin. I wonder would a southern dealership fix the problem for free as it is still under warranty and there should be a 6month guarantee on parts?

But honestly have no idea? as there are no warning lights up on the dash.

anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing these noises?

Appreciate the help!

If the dealership are changing ball bearings for a pad change your are in deep **** & need to make sure you don't drive the car until the mess is fixed. To be honest your friend probably got his idea wrong and all is well.

I found getting rid of the run flat tyre's eliminated many noises from my mcs and i get a much better ride mostly squeak free.

fix the rear seat belts into the locks, i found mine rattled against some near by plastic

wow ok thanks!! It was a mini dealership so hopefully they would have just changed the brake pads and not done something stupid like that. Do you reckon if I just phoned them up and explained they might be able to give me an answer? Because unfortunately I m based in Dublin so dont really wanna have to go back up north, or maybe a dealer down here would sort the problem out under warranty?

Hi - rear anti-rollbar bushes tend not to last too long on the 2nd gen Minis, causing a rattling / bump noise when going over rough roads, etc. We've changed quite a few sets and, as it's a very cheap thing to do, it may be the first thing to try. Noise from front suspension may be a broken spring or a worn suspension top mount.

100% agree to this as I have also had rear roll bar bushes replaced. Car had only done 20k miles at the time.
