Many of you are aware the headlights on the R56 are not as good as they should be. I have noticed mine 'switch' between low beam and high beam. So when i activate my main beam the dip beam turns off. However when you are in dipped beam and hold the flasher both dip and main beams are on and illumination of the road is far better. Has anyone managed to get bulbs or change the lights so that when main beam is activated the dip beam also stays on?

Isn't that how they are supposed to work? my previous non mini cars all did the same thing.

Apart from the legalities of re-wiring your headlight, there will also be the question of the amount of heat generated with both filaments on at the same time, best case: you shorten the life of the bulb, worst case: the plastic bits in the headlight assembly start melting / deforming
