Hi James

I replaced mine back in March with an OE from BMW (£61) and fitted it myself. It's NOT an easy job.

Because space is minimal there is alot of removal of parts required namely, intake, intercooler, air duct, hoses etc.. Took me about an hour or so to remove valve, half an hour to assemble new bypass valve and about a hour or so to reassemble everything.

As for upgrading - the valve I took off mine was the original and knackered (it squeaked when spring was depressed!). New one was alot stronger with only faint gap in butterfly when held up to light. The 'upgrade' that everyone refers to is really only a variation of the OE, namely a turn of the grub screw to completely shut up the butterfly.

On the test drive after fitment of new bypass valve throttle response was definitley improved. Highly recommended.

Hope this helps
