Seems I'm not the only one experiencing problems after having their aux water pump replaced under the recent recall.
I have a 2011 Cooper S and took it into the local garage to have the recall carried out. I also complained to them about what I thought was a wheel bearing noise, however I think this is now down to the run flats from reading about similar problems. Anyway when I mentioned this, the dealer said the exhaust rear box needed replacing as the joint was leaking. So after having all this work done, I drove the car home.
I noticed that the sport mode performance was not as great as before so gave it a little more stick. When I arrived home, I could smell burning rubber which I thought was just down to the car being a little hotter than normal. I've since driven the car a couple of more times and notice that pressing the sport button does not give any more siginificant improvement as it did before. I used to be able to feel the gain and drop off when pressing the button.
So as others seem to have had similar problems, there seems to be a common issue here, but whats the answer. Its going into the dealer again this week, but already I've had the start of some excuses I think, but time will tell. I also heard some water slushing noises behind the dash board this morning, but some posts state this is normal. I will check the coolant anyway now.....thanks
