: HELP! ABS, ASC and Flat Tire sensor light kicking in all at the same time

Hello,

I've owned a 2005 Mini Cooper S for about 3 years with 60,000 miles on it. I started driving after it rained yesterday, without signs, the ABS, ASC and Flat tire indicator triggered. Never had this happened before. I noticed after turning off the car, the indicator will go away but will return upon applying my brake after driving for a bit. I do notice that before the 3 indicator light up, breaking feels a bit wobbly, if this makes any sense.

My friend took it to his shop, hooked it up and the computer indicated that the front right wheel hub is faulty and is messing with the abs. He is charging me $250US to replace/install the wheel hub. Is that a reasonable price? I need a second opinion. I trust my friend but I've read conflicting information saying that it could just be the sensor that needs replacing.

Best Regards,

Google "mini cooper trifecta"
It seems its a sensor problem, have a look at this thread:

6 more posts until I can post hyperlinks properly....

I might be wrong but I didn't think the computers gave you information about mechanical parts i.e. the hub I know mine dosn't, they would normally only tell you about electronic components such as the ABS sensor.

My initial guess would be thats its the ABS and not the hub that is at fault.

Thank you for your input, how does this explain the whopping when I'm braking? Once all three lights turns on, my braking feels fine, but before that, it feel as though the brake is not catching on to the rotors.

alot of hubs these days have the sensors built in(not sure whether mini are following the trend).when the sensor goes it's a complete new hub..

Thank you Cooper S Jon, so my friend recommendation in replacing the entire hub is a good rec? Lastly, is the hub installation an easy thing to do? I'm guessing, he will put in new sensors as well?

it's very possible there is play in the hub which is causing the errors, but like i stated,i don't know whether mini have followed the trend of have hub & sensor as a complete unit.

before going any further i would be asking why he thinks it's the hub & not the sensor especially if they are separate.which i would find out first from your local mini dealer
