Min Cooper needs 2 new tyres. How much should I expect to pay for run flats? Also can you run normal tyres on these? I assume you can but does the orange tyre pressure system still work?

Thanks in advance

You can run normal tyres which are cheaper and give a smoother ride, on your existing rims..........don't believe any tyre fitter who says otherwise, if so just go elsewhere where they know what they are talking about.

The warning light system will still work.......it only detects the tyre changing size as it deflates, the type of tyre is irelevant.

If you have a Cooper or One you can retrofit a spacesaver spare under the boot floor if you wish, there is a diy 'how to' guide on here if you do a search.

Further to the above, you'll get a good indication of price from Black Circles (http://www.blackcircles.com/).

The least expensive run flat I found was $184 each. Kuhmos, but I can't recommend them. The tire is smooth and has great traction wet or dry. The problem is the noise, especially when turning. FYI my cooper is an 2008 S with 17 inch wheels and 205/45/17 run flats.

Ooh,already has a space saver spare so maybe doesn't have run flats? Will have to investigate
