I would say keep it, if the garage is doing the work to your satisfaction, all these problems are getting sorted at no expense to you, hopefully you will have a great wee car at the end...... Mini Me 40 Mar 21st, 2012, 03:09 PM Hey,

I know what ur sayin makes scence...BUT what if after my warranty is up a load other stuff starts goin wrong, she cost me £6000, somet i cant afford to just throw away, im only a shelf filler at Sainsburys lol. I traded my Clio in for this ( a car that never needed a penny spending on her in 4 years, apart from lil service) now im blown into this nightmare an can just see it gettin worse. DONT get me wrong i love the car but at what cost, im just a mere girlie on a rubbish wage lmao. i might argue for another 3 month warranty, its the least they can do :o( mab01uk Mar 21st, 2012, 05:55 PM I would get the work done under the existing warranty and try to extend it, probably just a bit of bad luck........tyres needing replacing don't really count as a fault though, normal wear and tear? I know, iv seen literally hundreds of the lil critters since i got mine, they are everywhere so they cant be that bad, probably just a bad previous owner, as 4 the tyres....they replaced them 3 days after the MOT because i pointed out that they were basically bald an id been pulled by the police about them, and they asked who did the MOT, they cudnt change them fast enough!!! she comming up to 50000 miles on clock so i guess things will be wearing. Hope its all sorted soon, i dont want to give her up she's a lil gem to look at and drive, and lets be honest Minis are CLASSY as hell!!! (my opinion)..oh need advice on the brake fluid monitor. will make new post with relevent heading  harvey94 Mar 22nd, 2012, 11:33 AM Hey,
Mini's do and can like all cars have problems BUT as i found out its actually trying to find the correct garage to work on them that can be the problem. I had problems with my one with normal air locks and thermostat going faulty but this was due to someone else messing with the car that really had no clue! and this included fitting a clutch wrong :( Anyway i have not been so lucky and have spent the required amount to bring the car up to a more than acceptable standard. I took the car to a garage that work on the mini and know them well, the problems i was having can be common place and that the actual engine and everything else meant in their opinion if i was keeping her was well worth spending the money on! i now have thanks to the help of mab01uk and marque for their guidance and knowledge one cracking little mini and i can say with all honesty i will never drive anything else!! when and indeed IF i decide to sell her it will be for another mini :) Mini Me 40 Mar 29th, 2012, 12:11 PM Well....i took her bak to garage tuesday for the suspect clutch release bearing...worked last night but cant sleep for worry as they hadnt rung me. SO I RUNG THEM:D Mechanic told me gearbox had been sent off and not back...?? i rung bak 5 mins later as i was MORE worried and asked WHY gearbox was away.....APPARENTLY it wasnt CRB's infact it was front shaft bearings in the gearbox!! eeeek! Cost..a random £473!!! THANK GOD 4 warranty huh? I know deep down this isnt going to be the end of it and i may always have to spend spend spend on her after the warranty has run out .....PLEASE SOMEONE TELL ME ITS WORTH THE HEARTACHE!!! (& drain on my bank account) harvey94 Mar 29th, 2012, 12:35 PM Hey,
Well i think most of you know my story by now and how much i have spent and the problems that i have had, most of my problems has been 100% in my opinion down to total neglect of the car, i am having to spend the money but i know its getting done proper and i will in the end have a great wee car! ok i can't open my sunroof but hey oh :D mab01uk Mar 29th, 2012, 04:48 PM I would stick with it if your warranty is paying..........at this rate there won't be much major left to go wrong! :D The Nun Mar 29th, 2012, 07:39 PM Its one of the hazards of buying used I suppose, you can get a fantastic bargain, or you could get a load of trouble, all depends how its been looked after in its past life.
Some folk never ever lift the bonnet to check anything, or clean it until its due to go then they spend a mad weekend polishing it so they can say very good condition well looked after etc etc, ha. Thats the sort of car you dont want, but of course you dont know half the time.
You never know if the faults you have are the very reason the last person got rid of it for, or it could be just sods law and its all going wrong by chance, lucky you have warranty so you can hopefully get it all sorted, should be a good car once it is, my niece bought a 2003 Mini One and has never has a thing go wrong in 80000 miles, she loves it and is buying another on the strength later this year.
Im about to get my first, a new JCW and Im looking forwards to it. | |
