: 2009 Cooper S Fog Lights stevie1der Mar 25th, 2012, 11:28 PM Hi all,
Relatively new to this forum, & just looking for some advice on some small things to start off with.
Got my 2009 cooper s on friday and so far i'm absolutely loving it, finally nice to have some power under my right foot! i'm a 19 year old lad so it puts a saxo to shame haha! The car i purchased has got xenons but the lights which are on the front bumper (basically the fogs) are like the normal lights, very ugly in my books. I'm just wondering if there is a bulb, or lamp that you can replace them with to almost look similar to the xenons. Looks silly have two different colours after all.
Also very surprised with how the exhaust pops, positive i have the stock exhaust and it sounds excellent. Any help is greatly appreciated
Steve x BlueBeastie Mar 26th, 2012, 04:55 AM Hi Steve
There are some products on the market that give a Xenon effect for your foglights. The bulb code for your foglights is H8. The only worthwhile option I saw were from PIAA, but importing them here would have cost a small fortune.
Just remember if you change the foglights, then you might as well change the park lights that are located just above the foglights, these are W5W bulbs.
My resolution for this was to change the park lights to OSRAM CoolBlues, which changed the tone of the park lights to match the foglights. Now when both are on, they look like one unit.
Keep us posted.
Oh one other thing, depending on your car, if you use LED bulbs, you might get a bulb error on your dash. stevie1der Mar 26th, 2012, 09:58 PM Hi Blue, thanks for the reply, greatly appreciated.
So am I right in thinking that basically all your lights give the white/blue effect looking similar to the xenons?
I'll have a look around but what kind of price am I looking at to change both the park and fog lights?
Also, had a look at your mini and it's almost identical to the one I purchased, good minds think a like!
Steve x Cuuper S Apr 25th, 2012, 10:16 PM Hi Steve, I have not changed the fog lights as very rarely used , but I did buy some ebay special w5w white leds for the side lights which are on all the time when you put the lights on, they complement the xenon headlights on my 2008 MCS , and only cost about 3 squid on ebay, you do get a bulb error warnign light as they are very much lower wattage than the original bulbs, look good IMO though. Go on ebay and type LED w5w , there are many to choose from, just need to check oin their size so they fit in the aperture though. stevie1der Apr 29th, 2012, 12:13 AM I bought a pair of bulbs from Mike @ new mini stuff online, was like £7.50. They're just as bright as the existing bulbs and they don't activate the warning light!
Excellent purchase if you ask me, and would perhaps upgrade if I were you..I mean, what's a spare tenner?
Will post a pic soon :) stevie1der Apr 29th, 2012, 12:30 AM Voila BlueBeastie Apr 30th, 2012, 05:40 AM Nice one dude! did you replaced the foglight too or just the parklight? stevie1der Apr 30th, 2012, 03:57 PM I've only replaced the park lights at the mo, but i purchased some fog lights off ebay, just waiting on them being delivered.
Picture isn't brilliant as I don't have a before and after shot, however you can really see the difference.
Since then, I've also changed the indicator bulbs to get rid off the 'fried egg' look. Changed my aerial to a stubby one, looks a lot better on the roofline & an ITG Panel Filter. The filter really does add a performance gain, can feel the air getting in quicker and it whooshes a lot more.
