Just joined the forum as its the first thing I do when I (or the missus!) buy a new car!

She's just got a 2008 Mini One 1.4 - lovely motor I have to say and I generally prefer bigger cars buts it a hoot to drive.

Couple of 'noob' questions though - firstly is it normal for the passenger airbag light to stay on for a few seconds on startup? The drivers side one goes off quicker but theres a definite longer delay on the passenger side. I guess as long as it goes off its ok?

I've also noticed a bit of milky-mayonnaise stuff in the oil filler cap.Its got 72000 miles on it but runs well. I've checked the oil dipstick and the coolant and they look ok (no sign of oil in the water, or white stuff in the oil) and as she tends to do short runs most of the time I guess thats also fairly normal?

She never got that on her previous car (a polo) but the design of the oil filler cap on the mini (i.e sort of domed) seems to encourage a place for condensation to sit, rather than being 'flat' like on the polo.

Sorry about the idiot questions but we're new to minis - its got me thinking about getting a clubman for myself next though!
