 On my way into work today a lorry kindly chipped my windscreen x3 and chipped my bonnet 2x!

He must have been carrying a load of rubble/stone aggregates as we went up a hill and they started flying out of his "dumping hatch"!
I was in a different lane quite some distance back.
If I was on a bike or walking on the path at the side I would hate to think of the consequences!!!

Managed to get all his details off his lorry but googled the company and guessing he’s self employed business as he doest show up.
Managed to stop him at the next set of traffic lights and he didn’t want to know and then politely drove off as the lights changed before I could stop him as I vented my anger towards him.

So where do stand on this? I believe the windscreen needs replacing my insurance cost is £90 excess, 3 small chips ones gone through to the heater elements in the windscreen with small crack lines.

Body work large stone chips £500 excess charge!!
No dints just paint missing.
I am thinking of trying a Chipex kit? Can anyone recommend them? or should I pay for the bonnet to be fully resprayed that must be less than £500 and I wouldn’t loose my no claims bonus?

The insurance company advised me they would contact his insurance and if he takes blame then his insurance will pay for it. He is not going to take blame he will act oblivious to it all I bet! What do I do?
No witnesses or passengers my word against his!

I could accept this as one of things that happens if they had flew up from his wheels but to come from the back of his lorry surly he is to blame with an unsecured load.

To top it all off I am needing 2 new 205/45/17 RFT this month and best deal I can find is Avon ZZ3s from Halfords at £102 fitted, anyone else know of any deals or offers at the moment. I hear good things about Hankooks (best price around £120 fitted). The Dunlop’s I took off my old cooper and put on my JCWs are rubbish, they haven’t lasted 2 mins compared to Bridgestone’s I had on before and their wet weather grip is very poor!
At the moment I am debating between the cheaper Avon’s or Hankooks or paying an extra £50 per a tyre for tried and tested Bridgestone's?

.....expensive month :frown::frown::frown:

I had a similar thing happen a few years ago - police weren't interested, insurance company told me I'd lose my no claims - ended up footing the bill myself. :(

That's a great price for Avon ZZ3s runflats, Avon do runflats and std tyres,
of the same size which are much cheaper, mine were £156each for the runflat.

Seems to be a fact of life that the newer the car the more likely its going to get damaged by something, all the damage my cars have ever got are from someone else, flying stones, wooden plank falling off a lorry, petrol cap flying off the car in front and denting the bonnet, shackle falling from the back of a lorry, speedboat in the outside lane of the M1 , just avoided that one though! all other folks carelessness, ok stones that are flung up cant be avoided but all the rest could have been.
Have you ever noticed when parking in a car park such as Tesco and leaving plenty of space, when you come back a Tank or some old beaten up builders van has squeezed in next to you?

A speedboat!! sounds like i ve got off lucky now then!
Yeah i ve never damaged one of my cars always other reckless idiots out there!

Looks like i am gunna pay the excess for a new windscreen and pay for the bonnet chips to be done myself instead of loosing my no claims and excess :(.

I always try and park next to a mini if i am at a supermarket or shopping centre with the hope that they will respect my mini also! If no minis i dont mind parking further away and walking knowing "she" will be safe.

BTW Costco is awesome as the parking spots are huuuuuge! i could park my mini sideways in one of them.....if only all cark parks were the same :(

Garry how do you rate the Avons?

Claim on the insurance, your passengers word is good enough, did the lorry driver have any witnesses to say the debris did not come from his lorry.

My wife had a similar problem a few years ago when a sheet of plywood came off the back of skip lorry travelling the other way. That creased her bonnet, but because she was so shaken up and pulled the lorry was long gone when she turned around.

Fingers crossed it all gets worked out, and isn't too costly!

I have been very impressed with Adrian Flux's claims team in the past though, so that's a bonus I suppose - good luck. :)

The insecure load thing is worth a try, but the Police would just have two conflicting stories and CPS will not risk the cost of a Court case on a relatively minor (in their eyes) offence. I know that sounds terrible, and they should prosecute anyone who does wrong and harms others, but it always comes down to money, and likelihood of them winning. Even the CPS is a business

Definately report this to the police.
