Evening all,

I have a very poorly 52 plate cooper S.
Car has had knocking that has gradually got worse (over the course of 3 days on a commute of 3 miles.)

The engine sounds like a bag of nails, has no power, cuts out, wont restart.
(No management light though)
After viewing videos and web links I fitted a replacement tensioner this evening but its made no difference
.
Im contemplating getting a replacement engine (block/head) and swopping all the bits over, but before I do, does .
anyone have any pearls of wisdomthat might be ble to help first?

Pass! Do you mean check the belt etc, or take it off and strip it down?

As said by Minicore, how many miles has your MCS done?
A worn out supercharger can make quite a noise (usually beyond 100k miles)and is fairly easy to replace but you can usually narrow down where noise is coming from to be sure.

Not loads, around 60k I think. Ill try and do a video so you can take a look
