I took my dooper to gatwick on the weekend (I live in bristol) and I've been off sick all week so haven't used it. I went to start it today, pulled away and I thought I stalled it as it conked out and a warning light came on. I tried to start the car again and it would not start ='( I looked up the warning light and its the light for 'engine malfunction'.
Anybody got any insight as to what the problem is?

Is the motor trying to start or nothing happens when you press the start button? You have some power if you are getting warning lights...

The engine turns over loads and just won't start.

It appears that you have an 08 diesel...It could be something as simple a a blown fuse for the fuel pump, although not sure why it happened. Glo plug issues, could be a timing issue. You have power because the starter is turning, which is ok as well. I think the next step is make sure you are getting fuel.

Do you have an alarm? Is your car a standard shift? I saw a thread about a clutch contact switch under the dash...

Its started now, my mums boyfriend had a fiddle with it when I was out and its running like normal now but its got me worried!
Its a 57 plate dooper and showing low fuel, not sure if because it hasn't been used this week and the warm weather has dried the pipes =S
Now need to get fuel and no garages in my area have any diesel!

Hallelujah! When you get a chance tell us what he did to get it to start. I checked other forums when I read your thread and others are having similar issues. Hope all goes well for you!

He said he just tried it a few times and it worked, seems a bit strange it just started ok! I think I'll take it to the garage to see what they say!

So I finished work tonight and went to start the car and the same happened!
It started for about 2 seconds and then the engine cut out.
I tried it about 7 or 8 times and eventually the engine chocked back to life but it has got me worried, my car is well looked after!
Im wondering if because I have start/stop on my car (57 dooper) the starting motor has had it, but it shouldnt be playing up after only 4 years surely?!
Anybody got any ideas what is going on?

Just to update you if anybody has the same problem, I had a hole in one of the pipes which was letting air into the fuel, so £300 later and its working fine!
