Hi all,

I'm new to the site but wanted to see if anyone has had the same issues as me.

I have a 2007 mini cooper 1.6 petrol which only does short journeys and overall around 3-4K a year.

2 years ago the EML came on and it went to Mini who diagnosed it with having serious condensation in the camshaft area and had damaged the cam and followers. They replaced the complete cylinder head under warranty and after pushing they gave me an extended warranty.

The EML has come on again and there is emulsified oil and water in the oil cap again like before. It may be the same problem but it's with Mini to have a look at what the problem is?

Has anyone experienced this with their car? I know it's only used for short journeys but the 04 mini, 01 peugeot etc didn't suffer this?

Any comments appreciated.

Thanks

TBH the cap will become emulsified off short journeys if the car isnt getting up to working temperature, it doesnt mean the cylinder head is gone again. May be just the engine isnt getting hot enough to burn off this vapour. It doesnt do any car very well to constantly do short journeys. Your best bet is to take it for a good run once a week and give it the good old 'italian tune up' too! If anything, its an excuse to get out and enjoy the car! =)
