I have a 2007 mini cooper and although it has always had some smaller issues, lately it is running so poorly I fear I will have to sell the car soon. I've always had trouble getting my sunroof and windows to respond to being opened or closed, they sometimes just won't do what they're supposed to. But lately, I will be driving and notice my music is no longer playing even though the screen still shows the artist and song title from my xm radio, and this occurs for all forms of audio. It will not produce any sound and after about 10mins of silence it will start playing again. The other day when this happened, when the music came back on all of a sudden my car started sputtering and locking up, then both on-board computers went blank and the car died. It has died a couple times as of lately, not always tied to the radio going out, but always the same sputtering and flash of the computer screens. The car only has 63k miles on it and I have it regularly tuned up and maintained. I've read that minis are known to have electrical issues right around the 70k mark, so I am wondering if that's what I am experiencing? Something pretty similar happened to my sister's 2005 mini (on-board computers failed and no longer showed accurate gas tank readings, etc, air conditioner went out, and finally activating air conditioner would kill engine) and she was told it was her electrical system failing so she was forced to sell the car.
Any input is much appreciated!

Certainly it sounds like an electrical problem, though it may be hard to diagnose the fault.
To me sounds like a loose or corroded connection or box. U probably need an auto electrician to fix this.
Something you can do for yourself is get under the bonnet, check all electrical connectors u can, clean any that look corroded, that means removing them & reseating spraying anything electrical with WD40, checking fuses etc
Good Luck

Probably should check the battery and alternator first. There are so many electrical systems on newer cars running all the time. Voltage variations can cause some pretty odd problems. Make sure your battery has the correct voltage as well as checking that the alternator is putting out the correct voltage. The battery doesn't have to be dead to be bad!
