hi guys i recently had a issue with airlock with my mini cooper 06 and after 2 trips to the garage it was sorted but now i have a whistling sound on idle.

any idea?

Where's the noise coming from? Can you localize it? For example, standing in front of the car is it coming from the left hand side in the area of the serpentine belt? When you blip the throttle, does the noise disappear, only to return when the rpms return to idle speed? In this case, it's your water pump.

Is it coming from the right hand side (could be power steering related).

Is it a vacuum leak? Get in the car, start it up. Apply the handbrake and put it in neutral. With the car running in neutral, pump the brake pedal until it goes stiff, but leave your foot on it. Does the pedal slowly travel towards the floor? If it does, vacuum pressure should be okay.

hi mate sorry for my late response its coming from my water pump so under my warranty i took it back and mini replaced my water pump and thermostat housing. the noise went then came back so i took it back again and they took the head gasket pulled some pipes off and released one mother of an airlock in the system. the sound then went again but is now back but only when cold as soon as i walm up theres not a sound.
