: Creaking and ticking

Good evening all
First post so firstly - hello!

Bought an R56 2007 Cooper 8 weeks ago. Very happy with the car as it suits my needs perfectly. However, 2 slightly annoying issues have developed since I picked it up -
1) What I would describe as an almost constant ticking noise from either the roof lining or the sunroof. Have oiled / greased / sprayed all moving parts and also added some neoprene strips to try and ensure a tight fit but still the ticking continues (one seems to be almost right above my head - particularly irritating)
2) Within the last 2 weeks I seem to have developed a creaking / vibrating noise when going over bumps or rougher road surfaces, that I think is coming from the dashboard on the passenger side. All seems a tight fit between dash and windscreen, and certainly no obvious movement.

Any ideas? Sound similar to any other problems? Any help much appreciated.

No ideas, but I am in agreement. I have a 2010 R56S, and love it. However, a combination of rough roads and run-flat tires exposes all manner of squeaks & creaks during operation.

1) At freeway speeds, there is a squeak eminating from near the psgr seat (only when seat is empty). Sounds like an angry cricket.
2. After shutdown, I sometimes experience a tick-tick as the catalytic converter cools down.

I would enjoy hearing what others did to isolate and repair such noises, or whether I should just turn up the radio.

I too have an 08 R56 S and the radio helps. The run flats that came on the car were pretty worn. When I replaced the tires, more run flats, it helped with some of the creeks. Many times the dashboard creeks is coming from the tach. I can grab it while I am driving on a rough grade and the noise stops. I am not sure what cause the rattle in the roof but I suspect it has something to do with the rollers for the sun screen. So turn up the radio or roll down the windows and open the sunroof!
