Hi all,

I have an early JCW which I believe to be the 200bhp version. The JCW certificate date is the same as the date of first registration of the car (6/6/03).... maybe an early factory kit?? It hasn't got the JCW airbox- but if I can get my hands on one, is it worth it? I wouldn't be getting the upgraded injectors and I doubt I'd get it re-remapped for the sake of an airbox so would I notice a difference in performance or just sound? I've heard a lot of people remove the 'flap' inside so why not change to another airbox that doesn't have a... 'flap'?

Also, is it quite straight foward to fit- I read they have electrics in them, I've never changed an airbox with wiring to worry about...

Cheers

The remap for the 210 JCW Upgrade Kit is for the larger injectors ... none is needed for the airbox.

You might want to consider the following ...
Dave.F Hybrid Airboxes for end April (http://www.minitorque.com/forum/f607/dave-f-hybrid-airboxes-end-april-25894/)

Thanks for the reply, useful to know a further remap isn't even required for the addition of the jcw airbox.

Seen the DaveF air box and certainly am considering it. I quite like the JCW one as it keeps things 'stock' which I feel may be a benefit come re-sale of the car...

The JCW kit was a dealer (or John Cooper Works) retrofit until 2005. Your car had it's kit fitted by the dealer prior to delivery.

HTH.

Ah ok.

So would it be worth me adding a JCW airbox d'you think?

Not much horsepower gain for the buck, but supercharger whine is a lot more audible when you put your foot down ;)

In my opinion you could go with just about any aftermarket CAI and get the same benefit , the only reason I would go dave f, JCW, or Dinan is because they all retain somewhat the stock look but I would say none of those perform better than the other.
