Performed 60k mile maintenance on my wife's 2007 S she bought used about six months ago. When I pulled the coils they were quite pitted with rust. I wiped them down with AMSOIL MP which is a great rust inhibitor. I suspect water pools in the spark plug wells. Is this an issue or just cosmetic in a place you rarely see? No issues with performance at this time.

I can't say 100% either way because I am no mechanic however I can tell you that I have a 2006 R56 with 58k on the clock and just had all 4 ignition coils replaced and the tech at Mini said it was quite common.
