Hi there,
This is my first post so don't know if I am in the correct spot. My 2005 mini cooper s gave up the ghost now about 3 weeks ago. The timing chain has given way and can't be seen (in the sump it appears) and it has done a lot of damage in the process.
To the point it now seems I am being told to get a replacement engine, engine has only done 83,000 by the way and I am up for between 7-8 thousand to fix. I am at a loss with what to do, a car with such low km's to me should not have the engine let go. I love my car and am shattered by this. I now don't know whether to get it fixed and risk a future high expense repair such as this or should I consider other options. This is a non BMW dealer by the way however a specialist, BMW's initial quote was much much higher.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers,
Dave
