: Save my MINI from the brick...

So, this is unbelievable, so follow closely!

I was in the middle of changing the battery on my GP (lesson 1 - pay someone else), when I needed to go inside the house.
As the battery is located in the boot, I closed the boot lid for security.
Sadly, as I did that, the car locked itself. So I now have this:

1. A locked GP on the road
2. No battery connected internally
3. A partially open (3") driver's window
4. 1 manual lock - that won't 'catch' and turns in either direction without unlocking

As you can see, I am pretty close to smashing the driver's window to get in to reconnect the old battery, hope for sufficient charge to unlock via central locking.
Bear in mind, there's no internal boot latch on the GP.

I have read this post elsewhere http://www.bmwland.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=120216 - is there an equivalent for a MINI? I have a brand new battery and jump leads....

Any ideas/thoughts/commiserations welcome!

Andy

So, for those interested but unable to help, here's the resolution:

The manual lock is covered on my warranty, and as such will cover me to have the car collected, taken to BMW Park Lane Service - despite them never providing a good service :-( - who will access the engine and bypass the battery.

Looks like, as the manual lock would've been a straight-forward access, that it's covered on the warranty. For the struggles they cause, Warranty Direct do cover most things (aside from superchargers).

Cheers

Good news. Did you not just try pulling the window down?

Yeah, but it's not worth pushing too hard.
Having spoken to MINI, Autoglass and various locksmiths, this wasn't going to do much other than a lot of damage!
