Have you had the battery checked under load, is it the original BMW battery which could be 9 years old now? Low power or failing cell/faulty batteries can cause all sorts of strange electrical gremlins on Mini's even though they can often still turn over the engine.
Water in the MCS rear boot battery well can sometimes cause problems if their is a leak in the rear hatch area which is not uncommon on earlier Mini's.

The battery looks like the original, i havnt had that checked as it has never had any slow starting or power issues. i checked for water in the boot as iv known that to be a problem but no water at all. i think a diagnostic scan might be a better solution, it sounds like a short down to earth. its been really wet here lately and perhaps water has got into a plug. but thank you for the help =)

Recent similar problem turned out to be the unused option CD changer wiring connector lying loose behind the boot rear side panel with moisture in the connector......might be worth checking.

iv checked that plug and it is dry, no sign of moisture. got home last night and within minutes of locking and elaving my car the alarm went off, then when i tried to lock the car after turning the alarm off the doors kept unlocking themselves and the brake lights came back on

Maybe check the BC1 next for moisture or corrosion in connectors:
