Hi

I've searched the forums looking for help on obtaining a replacement remote key fob for my Mini Cooper Diesel Clubman (2008) with no luck so far...

I need a new key but talking to my local dealer, they are asking for £150 which seems a bit of a rip off.

Can anyone help???

Thanks

I'm guessing that's about right

When I got my Corsa back in 2008 I ordered another key for it, that cost £100 but because it was for a brand new car the dealer programmed it to the car for me FOC.

Given that that was 4 years ago, and we are talking BMW prices here it sounds like £150 is a bit of of a bargain - even if it is a rip off bargain.

Hmmm :-(

I spoke to the non franchised garage where I get my other car serviced (and they also do BMW Minis) who told me that BMW force you to go through the dealer network and the price quoted is uniform throughout the UK.

Was hoping to find a cheaper route but looks as though I will have to grin and bear it.

A couple of days ago my local BMW-Mini dealer told me the process is:

- Take V5, Utility bill & other ID to order a new key.
- Pay £160 for a new key.
- When key arrives at thje dealers (from BMW) it still needs to be coded so the dealer told me that the coding would cost another £40 and I would need to take the car plus any existing key(s).
- Total quoted cost therefore, was £200.

(I see on this forum, some folks reckon you can code a new key yourself. IF it works, that might save you £40).

PS: it is cheaper than an Audi.

Spoken to Cooper Thames Ditton and they're quoting £150 all in so I'll go there for the spare key.

Thanks for your replies.
