Hey,

My friend has a 2003 mini one which he says sometimes has a slight power hesitation , he said it normally happens when first starting the car and also if the car has sat for a few hours.

He said it doesn't last long at all and its only for the first minute of driving.

The car has recently had a service with new filters , sparks , oil change, i did check to be sure and the filters have been replaced with new ones.

My opinion is that there is nothing to worry about and this can be normal, i have heard someone say before that cars can sometimes flood themselves with fuel with regards to the auto choke? and only happens for the first secs or minute of driving.

Just thought i would check on here incase someone thinks of a problem this could be?

Other than this the car is perfect!

Well my friend took the car into a local garage near his work and was told it needed a new clutch badly! , Complete and utter nonsense!!!

I told him i would come to his work later on as the car will have sat for a few hours.

So i took it for a drive and yeah i did feel a slight hesitation but it was only once and lasted seconds! Took the car for a 20 min spin and it drove perfect!

New clutch my A***

My 2004 has the same issue, flat spot around 2-3k when starting from cold. Done the typical service items and not really improved anything. Seems to be better now its warm weather. It could possibly be the engine coolant sensor giving an dodgy reading at lower temps and not getting the fuel enrichment correct for the cold start hence flat spot.
