: My New Countryman Is On Its Way Mad4mac May 6th, 2012, 08:17 AM Had a phone call from dealer. My new countryman will be ready for collection Friday 11th May 10:00am.
The original order was placed on March 9th so thats about 9 weeks waiting time.
Its a Cooper SD All4 Automatic with chilli pack in Absolute Black.
Hopefully if I can work out how, I will upload some pics next week.:smile::smile: greenlanddock May 6th, 2012, 02:42 PM Congratulations  n8dawgbu May 6th, 2012, 04:08 PM Does it take longer to get them in the UK? Our dealer told us 6-8 weeks when we ordered, and he seemed to think nearer to 6. Here's hoping. Mad4mac May 6th, 2012, 06:10 PM Does it take longer to get them in the UK? I was originally told by dealer 6 to 8 weeks MAC 41 May 6th, 2012, 10:34 PM Great choice of car:smile:.
I picked my Cooper SD All4 Countryman last Monday (30th Apil) after 9 weeks 4 days from ordering.
I was told at the time of ordering in could be 12 to 16 weeks for delivery. I think the dealer told me that to cover themselves & to look like a great dealer when it turned up weeks early, or am i just being cynical..
The Countryman is great though. Ive done 600 miles in 6 days. Fuel is Averaging 51mpg but have been taking it steady, most of the time. Mad4mac May 7th, 2012, 11:13 AM Great choice of car:smile:.

what colour? MAC 41 May 7th, 2012, 10:32 PM True-blue with black roof & mirrors. Chili pack with 18" Anthracite Turbo Fan wheels.
I need to take some pics & post them, but will have to clean it first. I have done over 600 miles in 6 days so havn't had time to do a wash! X6Sport May 8th, 2012, 10:27 AM Congrats on the car...and we have not exactly had the weather for washing cars either.... will bowden May 8th, 2012, 10:53 AM We've ordered a Countryman to replace our 09 Cooper hatch. The kids have just outgrown the hatch which is gutting as we love it to bits.
Anyway in July we shall be taking delivery of a Pure Red Cooper SD with black roof and alloys and black/red/black viper stripes as seen on some JCW versions.
I've been looking at chipping it already, sounds very very tempting...
Will :) MAC 41 May 8th, 2012, 01:18 PM The Countryman is a great family car. I've got three sons, two of them that don't drive yet & are both 6ft plus have done a few hours sitting in the back of the CM with no complaints.
I have received some tuning parts for my SD this morning & will be fitting them later today. I can let you know how things progress if anyone is interested?
Loving the Mini Countryman here!:D The Nun May 8th, 2012, 02:17 PM I've been looking at chipping it already, sounds very very tempting...

Dont worry someone with a supermarket trolley will make a very good job of chipping it and if youre lucky a little dent too, I have every confidence in that matter  greenlanddock May 8th, 2012, 03:15 PM I have received some tuning parts for my SD this morning & will be fitting them later today. Yes please :) MAC 41 May 8th, 2012, 07:58 PM I have fitted the German made RaceChip Pro Tuning box upgrade on my SD today.
You can Google RaceChip to see their products as I don't think I can put a direct link to their website in posts yet?..
It took 20 mins to install & was straight forward.
It has a wiring loom with four plugs & a nice aluminium cased unit.
The instructions don't show the SD engine but RaceChip send the customer an email with a picture of the SD engine with the places to insert the plugs clearly shown with arrows.
The instructions lead you through installation & set up, step by step. It's worth reading them a few times while looking at the engine bay to get an idea of what goes where.
It comes factory set to the "optimal setting" but this setting is nearly the lowest setting on the tuning box. I'm going to leave it at this setting for a few hundred miles to get a feel for how the engine characteristics have changed.
It has got around fourteen more settings that you can change using two dials that are inside the alloy box, these can be accessed easily by removing two screws. What effect you will get from changing the dial settings is explained in the instructions.
I have driven my favourite back roads again for a test & I have to say it has noticeably more drive now.
It's hard to put a number on the increase but its revving quicker, pulling harder & is more exciting to drive. I haven't been giving it a thrashing as I don't think that's the best way to drive a diesel & my SD still needs more running in, but from 1200 to 3500 ish rpm it's stronger & the engine wants to keep going, so there is more to be had further up the rev range.
On the down side there is more engine knock (rattling noise) if your cruising around 1500 rpm. I think this is a result of the new map reducing pre-injection so it shouldn't cause any problems.
Anyway, it has not developed any surging, stuttering or fault lights/codes etc so that's all good.
I will put a few more miles on my CM SD with this set up & post my findings on here. Hopefully this will give other owners an idea of how buying & DIY fitting aftermarket tuning parts goes (the good & the not so good) & if they're worth you spending your money on.;) Mad4mac May 8th, 2012, 08:50 PM I have fitted the German made RaceChip Pro Tuning box upgrade on my SD today.

Hi MAC 41 Just a couple of questions.
1 Is it expensive?
2 Will it null and void your CM warranty?
3 Is it easily removed? greenlanddock May 8th, 2012, 09:22 PM I will put a few more miles on my CM SD with this set up & post my findings on here.
Cheers Mac41! Any particular reason you decided to get a tuned ECU unit instead of remapping the existing one? I read about a couple of companies which either upload their own software or modify some special file containing engine settings. That sounds a bit easier to me, so what's the catch? | |
