: Nav DVD & USB Question

Hi all, I collected a R56 JCW last weekend and I am loving it so far - spent all day yesterday washing and waxing it. The car has the media pack and DVD based SatNav (2010 model).

The manual for the Navigation/Entertainment seems to be missing so excuse me for asking a few questions here - I have searched but found no direct solution.

1 - The Navigation DVD drive constantly seems to be whirring away, you know that kind of CD drive read/write noise. It does it all the time, as soon as you unlock the car (but the engine and Nav is still off). Is this normal?

2 - I have connected an HP USB stick to the USB socket (32gb with around 20gb of MP3 files) and they do play but randomly pause for say 15-20secs. Sometimes an entire song will play fine and then when I go back to it, the freezing happens. My wife thinks it is when the car goes over bumps but I am not so sure. I am using FAT32 and 128kbps files, I have also reformatted. My next step is to try a different stick but I wondered if anyone else had similar problems. The same stick works fine in my other car.

Thanks.

Well I have tried a different USB stick and we are in business, the MP3s play........however

When I restart the car after a break, the MP3s continue playing from where they stopped but the head unit shows the tracks in the playlist from the top and is pretty much frozen. The only way to get control is to go back to the top menu, and then back down into the Aux.

But the Nav DVD is still annoying....
