My 2005 mini one diesel, has been fine until now, but after an 80 mile trip the run flat light has come on, seems odd to me as I don't have run flats and all tyres are fine, I check Tyre pressure once a week.
I have managed to reset that light so its gone out now, by holding the run flat button near the hand brake.
What could have triggered it and do i need to do anything?

Its not specifically to do with run flat tyres, it is a tyre pressure monitoring system. If a tyre loses pressure it changes the diameter of the wheel and the onboard monitoring systems detects that the wheel is running quicker (I think) than it is expecting it to and flashes the light on.
It could be that you have a slow puncture or just that you have naturally lost some pressure. Inflate them back up, reset the light and see if it does it again. Also, give the tyres a once over to make sure that you don't have a nail in one or something like that.

Your low pressure warning works the same with normal tyres as it does with run flats , don't just reset the light, go and check your tyres and i think you will find one of them is a lot lower on pressure than the others , sometimes when checking tyre pressure you can damage the valve and cause a very slow puncture.

The pressures can also decrease alittle all at the same time due to temperature changes if it's been a while since you checked them.
The good thing about the tire pressure monitoring system is you can catch a leak before the tire fails completely and have it patched.
