Hello and help! I recently purchased an 06 Mini Cooper S Convertible AUTOMATIC with 80k on it. Upon test drive and purchase from a reputible person I know she told me that the Mini had a lot of road noise and was forward about a lot of little probs. The think I am most concerned about is this. While driving in excess of 40 mph there is a loud humming noise from what sounds like to me the wheels or front end of car. It does not sound like the engine. It sounds like something with wheels to me but I am FEMALE and clueless. It is a roaring noise. I would swear it was tires rubbing on something or something with wheels. I first thought brakes but it does it with no brakes on and only during acceleration. The seller told me she had the noise checked out and was told that it was struts or lack of??? She also clueless but was told it would cost 2k to fix and it really could wait. I am a little skeptical. I had strut issues on another vehicle I owned and it was more of a crunching noise when hitting bumps. Anyone know what this may be?
