: Car twitchy / unstable under heavy braking - switch DSC off (engage DTC)?

So I just finished the run-in period for my R56 MCS (it was hard not pushing past 4k RPM for 2,000km!!), now it's time to have some FUN!! How many of you turn off the DSC for normal / fun driving? I always press the sport button as part of my start up routine and wondering if I should also be pressing the DSC button as well?!

Reason I ask is I've noticed on heavy braking from high speed in a straight line the car becomes what seems to me to be scarily unstable and twitchy. Is this the DSC or independent wheel braking kicking in to try to keep the car in a straight line? Or is it because of the run flats? It feesl really unpredictable and not safe at all.

I've seen a couple of old Gen 1 threads about this but nothing on the Gen2, anyone else experience it?

i'd have to check the OM again, but i thought it says that ABS can not be turned off, regardless of the DSC/DTC setting

my CMS All4 was a little unstable under MAX braking until i upped the tire pressure from 32 to 38 PSI, as listed in the OM

I did wonfer if it could be tyre pressure related. They're currently at 2.6 bar (which is the recommended for 205/45/17 two persons unladen), but maybe I'll up it to 2.8 bar see if it makes a difference.

went out this am and did some all-out panic stops from 100 mph to zero, DSC on, Traction on and DSC/Traction off

did not seem to make any difference at all on my car, i can hear individual wheels giving a quick chirp as the brake assist/ABS is doing it's thing, but the car is completely stable from 100 mph thru to dead stop regardless of DSC/Traction being on or off

with the summer 225/45R18 tires, this is by far the shortest stopping vehicle i have ever owned, i expect there will be lots of front clips available from salvage yards as following vehicles hit the rear of these mini countryman
