Hi
I'm new to owning a mini - bought a 2006 cooper convertible a few weeks ago. I was not happy with the cloth interior, so bought new leather seats off a breakers. Noticed that you need a key to release the back seat - the key i have does not fit new seats!! does any one know how easy or if you can swap the locking mechanism? Also any tips on fitting the rear & front seats, or am i better taking it to a profesional? is it a time consuming job?
Thanks - any help would be appreciated

Be careful when youre removing the front seats, they have explosive devices fitted to them, Pyrotecnics they call it, sort of mini rocket launcher, connected with the seat belt operation in a crash, watch you dont fire them or you might end up with ejector seats!
The front seats have air bags in them too, so when youve finally plugged them all back together the cars ECU may need resetting as it will recognise a change and display a fault?
Then if youre really lucky it might all work when youve finally fitted them.
