Hi guys, I wonder what thoughts people have about Paceman, aka Countryman Coupe? I must admit I don't like the design, it seems like they welded two different cars together and the roof narrowing down at the rear looks hideous.

Looks very like the new Range Rover Evoque from the side?
They cant make enough of those, so some folk must like the design.

I didn't realise that Mini were working on this - I'd have preferred a 3 door to a 5 door if I had the choice, although my family would prefer the 5 door one.

I think that it is a bit along the same lines as the Evoque, but I like that as well, so I'll just be looking for when it's going to be launched!

I much prefer the Paceman to the Countryman.

JCW Paceman would/will look awesome. :D

I suspect that this is going to another one of 'those' designs where the design causes a sharp intake of breath with the critics, and statements of 'it'll never sell' but it then goes on to do extremely well.

It's not my cup of tea, but it could sort of grow on me - much like the Evoque did.

But then what do I know eh! I drive an X6 (a car slated for its design but now having Audi & Merc lookalikes designed) as well as a Countryman.....

Needless to say i Love the new look and design MINI have gone with to create the Paceman.

I'm so excited we are about to receive our Mini Cooper Pacemen in the up and coming month and will be sure to let you know how it drives before it goes out on hire.

Drove it two weeks ago. All that hype about Paceman delivering better driving than Countryman is just b***t (compared to a CMS with the sport suspension). The fact is though, it is nowhere near as practical as a countryman - no rear doors and only two rear seats with the rail between them. Not gonna comment on the looks, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Mini lost me with this one.

I took a chance with this and ordered one unseen - it's a lot better-looking in the flesh than in pix, though in a quirky, not pretty, way. More space for my MTB, skis, or other kit (and supermarket carrier bags) than my previous normal Cooper S.
Maybe a careful choice of body, roof and other details makes the difference between a bit of a design dog, and something that suits the aesthetically challenging (me).
I've got the manual Cooper S All4 petrol; handling isn't as tight as my previous one - that'll be the extra height - but it's as lively.

A comparison test drive in a sports jacket and wellies: Which one is the odd bird, which one is best and most of all -- which one really deserves to be called an SUV?

Yes but the Range Rover is in the name, sounds better down the pub if you say Ive got a brand new Range Rover than Ive got a new MINI.

All it really says is that you can't afford the proper one, whereas with mini it says you have a bit of imagination.

Great cars but it is shame so many of them these days are black with black windows and have that 'drug dealer' or 'dodgy property developer' image.....and few of the drivers whether male or female ever seem to say thank you if you let them through. :(

The Victoria 'Spice Girls' Beckham Special Edition did not help the Evoque brand image for me........:D
