Well, looks like the clutch on my beloved GP has gone.
Having become really hard, it also started slipping in 1st, with an occasional ping. I've also noticed that perhaps acceleration in 1st & 2nd isn't as nimble. Would this be affected by the clutch? I remember tires spinning in 2nd or 3rd before when accelerating really hard.

Anyway does anyone have any recommendations for a new clutch? The car does a lot of city driving so I'm not after spending a lot of money on something for track use, however, its a GP...Am i right to believe factory standard is not up to par, and as it is gone anyway what should I put in its place?

wow, mkay
My mechanic tells me clutch is gone for sure, the flywheel seems to be good.

Funnily enough, both my clutch and flywheel was last replaced under warranty in 2009 when the car did around 25k miles.

Now that the clutch had gone again, the car is on 56k thousand miles. so that is around 30,000 miles of life. Does this seem right for a JCW mini? lol

My friend also tells me that the brand of the clutch he pulled out is LUK. After speaking to someone at BMW whilst enquiring about the clutch work they carried out I asked if he could tell me which brand of the clutch they put in, he said "it would have been a BMW clutch". Is a LUK clutch then a BMW clutch and should they have installed this particular brand in 2009?

Any feedback on clutches welcome! What should I put in in its place?!
