Has anyone else had anything like this? my engine makes a sound that can only be described as a bad trumpeter when coming off the revs... Only lasts a few seconds and doesn't occur when idling or accelerating. It doesn't seem to happen at low revs either. I have few friends who own or have owned the same model but they're a bit bemused and amused by it!
Any ideas?

I've figured out what's causing this strange sound. It's a small rubber tube that comes from under the supercharger intercooler to the top of the cylinder block cover (highlighted in red in the pic). It's collapsing caused by some sort of vacum. I've put a couple of rip ties around it to keep it's shape, but does anyone know what it's for and is it bad it's doing that? I'm guessing it's some sort of oil feedback or something, it's very oily...

The crankcase breather line (vent hose) was the subject of a recall (http://www.mini2.com/forum/first-generation-faults-fixes/125725-post-your-recall-service-bulletin-here-3.html#post1158100) for MCS models produced from late June 2002 up to late July 2003.
