Hi guys/gals ,

I had my driving lessons in a mini one about 6 years ago and have always wanted a mini since then... finally able to afford one now and insure a cooper s..

This looks good to me but obviously I am not educated yet in the world of Minis!

So what are your thoughts is this overpriced or ok?

Not sure what that price is in US dollars but for a 2002 if its under 10k in US dollars and in great shape with reasonable mileage for its age then its prob not a bad deal.

I would suggest you to go private, You will find better deals for 4.5k cash.
Also think that the car is already 10y.o.
£270 Tax, Insurance 15
And "S" drink petrol like crazy so not ideal for a tight budget.

Hope that helped.

Hi thanks for replies.

£1 =$1.58 so I guess £4500 would = about $7000

Also I don't think I would like to spend anything over2.5k on a private sale because of no warranty etc.?

In terms of petrol I think they drink about 32mpg on average. which is the same as my previous car a mazda mx5 (miata)

Bubbadoodoo, you'll be getting had up for loitering if you get 32mpg,drive it frugely and you may get 29-30 mpg ,enjoy it and it'll be down to the low 20 mpg,so good luck and njoy

Could look at the R56 Cooper S, much better mpg, but they will be slightly more upfront potentially.

R56 the current version, turbo.
Headlights fixed to the body and dont go up with the bonnet like the early ones.

A little out of my price range , I am after an 04-05 cooper S , after reading a bit on here they seem the best I can get for my money (around 5-6k max)
