Hi Everyone,

When I'm sat at idle I can here a slight rumbling noise in the cockpit but only at idle, outside the car with the bonnet up it sounds more like a slight clicking noise.

I took it to a local garage who say it sounds like a 'tensioner' is causing the problem he said he had a similar fault on a JCW not long ago but that was 10 times worse, replacing the tensioner resolved the problem and that it was nothing to worry about.

Is this just another one of minis common little faults and has anybody else experienced it ???

Have a ticking also, but sounds like valve train noise. Oil level is good, seems normal.

Do have some visible play (very slight) in the tensioner moving up and down.

How many miles do they usually go bad at?
