we bought my wife an 05 convert a couple of weeks ago...her second mini as she had an 02 hardtop for nearly 9 years!!...she loves it apart from......

the alarm..

some times the remote won't unlock the car so then she unlocks it manualy and the alarm goes off till the ignition is turned on...yep I know it's a known issue with other sources of radio waves and that the manual unlocking wont turn off the alarm..

but it there sumat we can do to stop the alarm or boost the key remote signal??
or where is the receiver on the car and if she puts the key really close to it will that help..

or are the keys faulty

The key has a battery in it that recharges itself when its in the ignition as youre driving the car, but I would think after 5 years even a rechargable battery is getting past it best and wont hold full charge for long once removed from the car, have you tried replacing the battery with a new one?
Normally unlock/locking problems is the first sign a battery in the key is losing its strength.

I replaced the battery and mended the micro switch in the last Mini's key but that wasn't rechargeable apparently....is the battery replaceable in this one??

I find my 2009 remote's range to be a bit variable - it has good days and bad days. On the bad days, it needs to be nearly touching the door glass to work, whereas on the good days it'll work from inside the house.
