I have had the airbag light on for a while now and have been planning on having it re-set with the new MOT regs requireing no airbag lights on for a pass now.

However....i had it plugged in at work with all the latest handheld diagnostic computers (not my field i do the bodywork not fix engines!) and i was expecting the usual loom under the seat issue.

Instead i got. Battery positive terminal isolation 1.

The light refuses to re-set and the fault cannot be cleared.
whats the fix here people?

Thanks.

Any help appreciated....I'm stumped for an answer.

really common problem....big issues actually seeon the main page about a petition!!

anyway the wires for the side airbag in the seat have come loose, they habg down under the seat and can be easily seen....cut off the plugs and solder the wires together...or BMW will do this for you for around £700!!!!!...and no it's not difficult!

Thanks for the reply but this isn't my issue. I have had that one before and cleared no problems. This one is battery cable related.

I have decided to fit a resistor as described in my earlier searches on here to hopefully fool the computer into thinking I have fitted a new positive cable.

Will post my results with pictures when I get my resistor through the post.

I have a similar issue with my 55 plate 2006 Cooper S ( local BMW Mini dealer diagnosed 'battery cable' fault, cable needs replacing) The cable replacement is a bit of a pain to do so i've been putting the job off. I note some while ago you suggested that you were going to fit a resistor, did it happen? was it a success? If so, would very much appreciate detail? Regards
