Hi

At my last service i was told my NSF wheel was buckled. I bought a used wheel from a Mini Parts specialist from Ebay, and had Kwik Fit balance and fit it on Monday.

Since then there has been a strange whirring/humming noise emitting when I drive the car. It doesn't happen if in neutrral and revving the engine, only when I'm actually moving, the noise kind of pulses depending on what speed I'm doing.

i took the car back to Kwik Fit yesterday and explained the problem, they rechecked the tyre and tracking, but said everything was fine.

Any ideas what could be wrong? I drive around 40 miles each day, some doing speeds on motorways. Apart from the noise, the car feels absolutley fine, and there is no strange smells etc.

FYI It's an 08 Mini Cooper Convertible.

Thanks
L

Hi

I have a 58 plate Cooper D and have a similar problem occuring from about 35mph increasing in frequency as speed increases. Mini told me it was a buckled front nearside wheel and when checked it was out. I had the problem sorted but the noise is still there.

I have a very good independant mechanic checking the car next week as mini say the car is fine. I will let you know what ( if anything ) he finds.

This is just a shot in the dark... Do you have unidirectional tyres? Are you sure they did not mount the tyre backwards on the new wheel?
