2009 Cooper S w/ 30000 miles Oil change 3000 miles ago No earlier problems.
Last night I found a major oil leak w/ the engine running- fortunately my son called me within minutes of seeing the oil after I left the driveway so I shut it down while there was still plenty of oil in it. It's really slinging out a bunch so it would not have been long before trouble occurred. Is there any known problem
with a particular oil line, hose, or component I should look for first. Should the drivetrain warranty cover this?

FWIW, the leak was a broken 'O' ring in the oil filter housing. The cooling fan blew the dripping oil everywhere and made a mess very quickly. I've owned and maintained maybe a hundred cars, motorcycles, boats, and jetskis for over 50 years and never before had a failure like this in an oil filter gasket or 'O' ring.
