: Music player stops working

I have a 32GB memory stick of music connected to the centre rail USB port. On a few occasions now, the music playback has abruptly stopped, and I've then been unable to get any audio from the radio or any other of the audio sources for a couple of minutes. Normal service is resumed a couple of miinutes later.

When this happens, I am unable to use the arrows to select the next track, but I can use the Mode button to select a different source, although I still don;t get any sound for a couple of minutes.

It is as if the audio system is rebooting, or something.

I initially thought it might be corrupt files on the memory stick causing this, but have proved this not to be the case by later successfully replaying the same track that had been playing at the time of the lockup.

I have the "CD Boost" audio system.

Any ideas, anyone?

What is the format of the music in you USB memory stick? MP3?

It's a mixture of MP3 and wma.

I think it might be something to do with the boost radio set up as I had a similar problem when I put my USB stick in the standard radio.....the tracks kept jumping and only certain ones would play.

That's part of the reason why I upgraded the radio on my order for my new Cooper S.

I have exactly the same issue as yours. So far, I can intermittently reproduce this issue only when the engine stops and cannot reproduce it while driving. Initially I think this is my music bad, but later on I found it is not true.

I have the iPhone mount in the armrest. This temporarily disconnects over bumps. Quite annoying.

I've had a similar problem, but it seems to be track specific. It always happens on the same songs in my playlist. If I skip the song, everything is fine. If I don't, it gets into a loop where it starts from the same song it started with before and then shuts down on the same track it shut down on before.

So far, it's the only problem I've had with the car.
