Done a thousand times by others, but i can't believe the difference it makes, cooper S Grill fitted to my Cooper D, the lower grill surround re- profiled on bench sander using D trim as a template, £40 modification, best money i have spent in years, worst bit was cutting the holes for spotlight brackets. (sorry pics a little dark)

Looks great!

I've already taken out the egg yolk repeaters and replaced the side indicators..
this looks like the next step..

How difficult is it to remove the D grill and make the Cooper S grill fit and do I need to drill new holes for the grill or only for the spotlights which I may do at some other time..

Thanks

Thanks for the comment, there is loads of posts regarding this on here just look in the cooper D section, it's not hard to remove the old grill 4 push fit fasteners on the upper section and 6 other clips on the bottom, cooper s grill needs 2 holes putting the upper section where the cooper D has extra bolts, and fro spot light i just cut 2 holes about 50x40 to make room for their brackets, that was the hardest bit.

It's the lower chrome trim beneath the grille that needs reprofiling. The Cooper S grilles chrome trim piece is slightly wider with a different radius curve, so it is necessary to remove a little of the chromed plastic trim with a dremel or sander to make it match the profile of the standard grille. The rough sanded edges cannot be seen once the grille is fitted.

You also need to drill some clearance holes along the upper edge of the black plastic part to allow it to fit over a couple of bolt heads, easy enough to mark their position and drill out. The grille then fits with the standard press-in retaining clips.
